Self-love

All these while in my life I have had this idea that self-love is selfish. I always put others’ needs first before mine. I always care about what other people thought or feel rather than what I actually feel inside. As I grew older I notice that self-love is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.

Let’s see some of the ways we can show ourselves some self-love and make it our daily routine.

  1. Breathe, Meditate and be Mindful

I know you might be thinking, what? breathe? I am breathing 24/7. My question is how many of us are actually fully present and conscious of our breath? Whenever we are being aware of our breath, we automatically become present. In the book, The Power of Now” Eckart Tolle shared with us the incredible benefits of being present. So take a few minutes of your day to sit in a quiet place, and calm your mind. You can start with just 2 minutes and gradually increase it to 5 to 10 minutes.

2. Exercise/Stretching

This is so important. We need to take care of our health. There are so many benefits to exercising. Take some time in your day to do some stretching. You will feel the difference. Remember, the healthier you are, the more people you can help.

3. Eat healthily and drink lots of water

Drinking water is so important to replenish our bodies. Drink at least 1 litre of mineral water daily.

4. Do what you love

Spend some time doing what you love such as writing, cooking, painting, dancing, playing an instrument, cycling, gardening, and so on. Just have a me-time where you can be fully focused and enjoy the moment. Do it for your soul.

5. Forgive yourself.

Most of us have done mistakes that we still feel regret. We should be kind towards ourselves. Every time you find yourself judging yourself. You can say a prayer and forgive yourself. It also helps you to move on and create space for new experiences in your life.

These are just the basics that I have shared. You will learn slowly when you go within yourself. Self-love is a journey. It takes time to accept our flaws and forgive yourselves, but it will be worth it. The more you cultivate self-love the more your life will change.

Always remember, you are worthy, you deserve all the happiness in the world. Take care of yourself, you are important. <3
